The Adventures of Bobby Ray have hit the shelves today and I just copped the Album. When I was following him 2 years ago I never thought that he would drop such a gem. I’m speechless.

This song makes me think of that someone special. You know….the lovelier design.

maybe one day we can go
hand in hand down a golden road
and if i get there before you go
ill be waitin at the door,

in the future hopefully
we’ll be together you and me
dont you worry baby please
cause honostly

if i could rewind
both the hands of time
still i would never find
a lovelier design
than you, nothing lovelier than you

maybe one day girl i pray
we can float off to space
hold my hand ill lead the way
and i wont let go and fall astray

aint no if, but and maybe’s
your my baby, my lady
dont you worry baby please
cause honostly

if i could rewind
both the hands of time
still i would never find
a lovelier design
than you, nothing lovelier than you

B.O.B – Lovelier Than You

I just randomly stumbled on Two Door Cinema Club from Bangor and Donaghadee, Northern Ireland formed in 2007. They are signed to French record label Kitsuné Music, through which they released their debut album Tourist History on 1 March 2010 and they are amazing. 2 tracks I’ve heard, 2 hits. 2 for 2 Tuesdays.

Cults’ music is a throwback, an enigma, sunny and soulful, something you might hear in San Francisco in the seventies, if you flipped through Joan Didion’s “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” really fast, if you stood for a while, maybe waiting for someone important, in front of a street glockenspiel player, and then gave the guy some cash when your lover didn’t show. You would walk home whistling that little glockenspiel line. You would think about driving somewhere far away, whose car you could borrow, who you would bring with you. When you got home you’d open all the windows and write a sad song with lots of echoey guitar, record the paranoid ramblings of some televangelist off your TV, sing/sigh some moody lyrics. That song would be “Go Outside.”

When you wrote “Most Wanted” you had to throw yourself back even more. It seemed like it would only fit in a dance hall. You would have to do a little dance with your hands on your hips. You would have to find someone to play upright bass. All your friends would come and dance with each other like high schoolers, never looking in each other’s eyes.

“Go Outside” and its’ b-side “Most Wanted” is Cults’ first release and the debut release for Gorilla vs. Bear and Weekly Tape Deck’s Forest Family Records, who are donating all proceeds from their releases to charities benefiting animals. The 7″, which was limited to 400 copies, is sold out. Yay for the animals.

“Gasoline” has organs, soul, high-pitched fretwork, and an aggressively powerful delivery. The latest single from The Dead Weather seems to promise that the upcoming Sea of Cowards will continue the raw, emotional, R&B-flavored rock Jack White and his crew created on Horehound.

Marina and the Diamonds CRUSH this cover of 3OH!3’s “Starstrukk” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Marina beautifully transforms the top 40 hit garbage into an epic, almost heartbreaking, pop song. Someone give her all the prizes for being able to turn a song that I found pretty much unbearable into one I now have playing on repeat.

What do you get when you mix four hot guys, instruments, and sex infused vocals? (No, not Kings of Leon.) Foster The People is the best band no one knows…yet. This is the band you’re going to tell your friend you’ve been listening to forever when they blow up.
They first started to receive attention after Black Book Mag called “Pumped Up Kicks” the song of next summer. This song sounds like a cool mojito tastes on a hot summer day. It makes me want to get in a glamorous pool with a bunch of really good looking people and look like I’m bored as fuck. So put this song on your iPod, plug it into some loud ass speakers, and go jump in a pool (naked?).

If you don’t like The xx, you’re officially uncool. Their understated vocals, simple and delightfully dark songs, catchy melodies and unmistakable style have made them one of the hottest indie acts coming up right now. Personally, I love them, so I’m just gonna continue to be cool and watch their new video which seems to be a very artistic window into 2 perhaps intertwined broken relationships. Very sad.

The Antlers cover The XX’s cover, and they do it right.

VCR – The Antlers
The Antlers stopped by WPGU to perform “Kettering” and “Bear” from their lauded Hospice LP, as well as a cover from another highly regarded 2009 LP. The Antlers covering the xx’s “VCR” sounds like the best thing in the world right now.
