MY fav new rapper Freddie Gibbs and Madlib aka The MadGibbs are are super duo. Each providing their unique flavour to this soulful throwback song “Shame”. Laid back production mixed with Mr Gibbs ever so smooth flow makes this a win.
Every time I hear a joint from Action Bronson I think I’m hearing a sick old school track from Ghostface. “Steve Wynn” is a win for me. The hard hitting laid back flow of this song takes main stage. It’s one of those tracks you just listen to on your porch in the summer while having a bbq.
We finally have a video to “Mercy”, a simplistic track met with a no thrills video. Editting and some flashy tricks mixed with wardrobes on the edgy terrorist side. If you look closely probably the best part of the video is Kid Cudi’s cameo where he does his little dance. Very awesome. This album is probably going to be an instant classic. Probably better than WTT. This time Kanye and Pusha T make a serious duo, plus having Big Sean & 2 Chainz on there too doesn’t hurt. I’d say the video isn’t that bad. I’m a fan of Mr West so he’d have to mess up something pretty bad for me to hate it.
What better way represent Danny Brown’s visuals for “Grown Up” than to have a little kid with an attitude messing about. You think Danny would of done some growing up in this video, I guess he did. Either way this track is fly, the kids talking sample threw me off at the beginning but the hypnotic beat pulled me in.
She Said Ok – Big Boi & Theophilus London
One part of Outkast’s legendary duo, Big Boi’s follow-up solo album titled ‘Viscious Lies and Dangerous Rumours’ features the trendsetter Theophilus London and Tre Luce. It’s pretty much a raunchy R&B track with hard hitting rhymes from both Big Boi and London. It’s a damn awesome collaboration.
Forever West – Kanye West ft. Vega Choir
I’ve heard this sample a few times with some hip-hop over it. It’s pretty timeless listening to the Vega Choir sing Radiohead’s hit Creep. Urban Noize went a step further and decided to throw on the master of resampling himself Kanye West, it’s pretty cool. What do you think?
Blood Orange a.k.a Lightspeed Champion came up with these dope original retro visuals to match his originally retro track “Champagne Coast”. I can’t really give a proper verbal explanation of the unique branding, you’ll just have to check it out yourself.
“The Life Of Kings” has been on rotation in my playlist for sometime now. It’s dope Run DMC sample “Down with the King” carries the song for me and has an old nostalgic 90′s vibe to it. Evidence and Big K.R.I.T. are featured in this no thrills visuals. Charity Starts At Home is full mainlining tracks, cope it now if you haven’t already.
One of the baddest white girls on the hip-hop block is Iggy Azalea. I was introduced to Ms. Azalea a little while back and couldn’t figure out if I was digging her style, yes her fashion sense is hot but she’s on the border of being cheezy. Now T.I. came hard on her beat in the Studio Sessions behind the scene type style footage. It’s a bad beat, bad biatch. I’m pretty sure my first impression was way off.
A Simple Man – Action Bronson
Damn, I can’t help but be reminded of one of my favorite albums of the decade, GhostFace Killah’s “FishScale” when I hear Action Bronson “A Simple Man” It’s so on point and his flow is is so like Ghostface that I can’t help but draw the resemblances. Tommy Mas put it on blast with this relaxed laid back track, perfectly fit for this Queens rapper.
