I was a little slow on this one, a few months to be exact. It’s times like this that I’m mad at myself. I keep my ear to the ground musically so much sometimes that I even forget to check up on my fav artists. H.N.I.C. 3 is a perfect example of me being like home schooled child. My blinders are on and I’ll only learn what my parents want me to. Anyways this new hardcore mixtape from P is basically all the garbage
that didn’t make the cut for his next album H.N.I.C. 3. If this is the garbage then we are in for some realness very soon. I’m soooo excited, a new H.N.I.C. from our freshly released from prison main man P.
This is some creepy stuff. I saw the title with Steve Aoki, Kid Cudi and Travis Barker and I knew we were in for a big budget video but I wasn’t prepared for creepy clown and nuns. Doesn’t get creepier than sad clowns and mean nuns. On the other hand the quality of the video and effects are what keeps this video in dupstep land, it’s a very strange land indeed.
The Way It Goes – The Kickdrums ft. Big Pooh
Lights – The Kickdrums ft. Rebecca Jordan
Traces – The Kickdrums
Come Come – The Kickdrums ft. Hot As Sun & Freddie Gibbs
Safer Than Heaven – The Kickdrums
I’ve been following the very eclectic sounds of The Kickdrums over the years. It’s always very refreshing to hear new material from them because it’s always taking the genre to a new level. The Kickdrums latest, and I would safely say biggest project/mixtape ‘Follow The Leaders’ is my favorite. From beginning to end the mixtape carries over several different musical landscapes and for that reason is very listenable. Follow the Leaders also features a big list of artist featured such as Machine Gun Kelly, Big Pooh, Casey Veggies, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Rockie Fresh, to name a few. The big secret here is that the song with Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky was removed from the mixtape because Rocky apparently wanted that one for his own album. This mixtape is free and it’s rare that free things amount to this much quality. Cope it now.
It’s Alive – Chill Bump
As a close friend said ” France is really cool, They have cool stuff like wine and cheese, Daft Punk and Justice” and here’s yet another cool product from the city of love. Chill Bump is basically 2 procducers, Dj Bankal and MC Miscellaneous. There music reminds me of the soundtrack from Snatch slowed down and with a chill bump to it. They just released their second EP ‘Back to the Grain’ yesterday. Cope it. It’s Chill Bump.
It’s been more than a minute since I’ve posted a smooth RnB jam and it’s been way more than a minute since we’ve heard from Missy Elliot. “Nobody’s Perfect” (perfect title) is J Cole’s third single off of Cole World. The visuals are sweet and captivating making this a silky smooth dope track.
When I heard Flatbush Zombies beat role out on my newly added 5th subwoofer
) I could understand what “S.C.O.S.A” was bringing to the table. Nasty charismatic gansta zombie sound. There’s few rap groups that when I listen I go damn that hardcore and this is one. Might not be for the masses or even for me but hardcore hip-hop always will have a place in my heart.
I’m tired of hip-hop on the radio. It just reminds me of the classics and how they’ll never be the same. Enter Nas, I’m cured. “The Don” is a track that represents the past, present and future of hip-hop. “The Don” doesn’t rest on a singular loop sample like in the old days instead it has 5 different musical directions each taking the front stage instead of being blended. Anyways I can go on about this but I’m so damn excited to here Nas new ablum “Life is Good”, isn’t life good?
It’s Wednesday and it’s the midweek hump. What better way to bring in hump day then with a video of people gyrating there humps. Karmaloop went completely nasty on Diplo new track “Express Yourself”, the lyrics are as follows :spread your legs, arch your back, go up and down, and make it clap. And that’s exactly what you get, a whole lotta ass clapping. I can deal with Nicki Minaj shaking her thang but the other visuals ruined it for me.
3 post, 3 mashup albums. These have been the highlight for me this past week. This one has all the components, from ACDC to Jackson 5 to Feist to The Roots. It’s pretty mush the reason the word mashup exist. Tumblewoof took all the most recognizable parts from all big hit classics and fused them to make something completely different. I enjoyed hearing his take on all these songs.
It’s kills me that one of the best rappers is no longer around, no longer gracing us with amazing lyrics blended over hot beats. Notorious B.I.G. died 15 years ago on March 9th. Terry Urban felt that we needed some more Notorious in our ears and I’m down 1000%. Yes, it’s another Biggie mashup but this one is o so different. You’ve got Notorious Biggie and the notorious pop star. Some would say Biggie would be rolling in his grave hearing this but I dont think so. If he was alive today I could very much see him teaming up with her to make some notorious underground indie hip-hop.
“The music from Lana’s Born To Die… remixed and resampled. The lyrics from Biggie’s Ready To Die… still timeless after all these years. It’s a perfect marriage… dark and mysterious… soulful and gritty. Lana told Vogue Magazine that Biggie was one of her biggest musical influences… and now… he is her musical collaborator. I present to you… Born Ready To Die.”
