Jhameel just released in the New Year the high energy visuals for his track “Shut Up“, one of my favorite songs of his Dance EP and also the track that not only took over the Hype Machine charts, but became Forever 21’s flagship song for the fall of 2011.. This songs has Michael Jackson written all over it and the video has even some MJ dance moves. This is the first time we get to see Jhameel shake it up a bit, in the desert with a girl. Enjoy!

I’m not to familiar with the six-piece Melbourne-based band named Alpine. “Hands” was released back in November. It’s a dreamy song with equally dreamy vocals, hazy hand-clapping and intriguing guitar riff that’s supposed to be about a hand/finger fetish. To each his own I guess. Anyways this video plays off that weird fetish in a strangely portrayed ensemble of girls doing strangely odd things. NSFW I suppose. “Hands” will appear on the band’s debut album in March.

Geez, trying to post in the New Year is a lot more difficult than I thought. There’s a real lack of new good music in 2012. Not good for biz. Anyways Fun is a 3 piece band based in New York. Fun will be releasing their sophomore album, Some Nights, on February 21st. In the meantime they released their video for “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monae. It’s quite simple, a bar fight. Who doesn’t like an old fashioned bar fight.

Here’s Eliza’s acoustic version of The Weeknd “The Morning”. As you expect in Doolittle’s fashion to do a stripped version of “The Morning” in bed with some friends. Pretty simple, not great audio but pretty cute, like Doolittle.

Lithium – Little Roy
So I’ve been meaning to post this since last year and it’s been sitting in my drafts. Well today is another day in 2012 where there’s no new good music in sight. So here’s a great song from 2011 from Little Roy covering “Lithium”. I’ve got to admit it takes you by surprise, you have Kurt’s dark lyrics on one side and on the other you have this reggae/ska sound that uplifts the overall feeling of the track. It’s a fun mashup because Little Roy obvious style transcends time, the 70′s pioneer has re-done a whole album of Nirvana material, worth checking out.

“Cake” is the first song I’ve heard of from Keepaway. I’m not sure what to make of it, the sounds that fill this track have every type of genre sprinkled throughout. It’s has been compared to a less complicated Animal Collective mixed with the afro-pop sensibility of Vampire Weekend glued together with the quirky dynamics of Das Racist. Yes this seems all over the place but is somehow kept together by Keepaway, Black Flute drops January 10th.

Success – Bugus
Here’s another noob to me. Bugus just released this new old school track. “Success” is a throwback style song and showcases the how diverse this new MC is to the game. The boys at Diemon are starting the year strong by releasing this A+ track in the New Year. It’s sweet and chill, enjoy!.

Pumped Up Kids – T-Boe
T-Boe hit the nail on the head with “Pumped Up Kids”. He took my fav 2 genres, forget that he took one of my favorite spaced-out indie songs and made a hip-hop remix. What’s not to like about the Foster The People’s original, add in a beat, a hit-hat and some revised rhymes and you got yourself a revised childback “Pumped Up Kids”. Props T-Boe!

Video Games – Left Boy ft. Mirakle
Left Boy has got me surprised and excited over the following 2 bangers that have been on repeat since I’ve found them. His mix of electro hip-hop is the perfect fusion of sound. It workd so well, In the video for “Outro” the visuals are basic using a slow mo to spice up the most mundane things, there are some surprises.Then Left Boy took everything good about “Video Games”, it’s catchy melodic chorus and sombre overall feeling and turned it on its head, well not really its head but more like its side. Throwing 8 bit sounds on the synth to complete Lana Del Rey’s sample. It’s actually pretty dope, slightly different and another reason to listen to “Video Games” or “Outro” once again.

Seattle native Sol is setting is sites high for 2012. “2020″ is a simple hip-hop beat but in it’s simplicity comes the beauty. His lyrics are real and hard, a rarity these days. Sol music is just easy listening, music thats instantly likeable. “2020″ is on his forthcoming album Your Truly due to drop January 20th.
