Starlight Girls – “The Hunch”

The Hunch – Starlight Girls
“The Hunch” by the Starlight Girls is more of an upbeat track compared to the sultry, vintage inspired “Flutterby”. And I’m really liking it. “The Hunch” has this Greece lighting type feel mixed with a sweet organ and catchy beat. Makes me happy and want to bob my head. It’s hard to perfect the vintage sound they chose. The reverb soaked pop/rock sound is done – and done over. But Starlight Girls figured out the algorithm. This Brooklyn Band has finally completed their new album. It’s due out next week. They are also doing a US tour right now.

Phlo Finister – “Bang Bang” (Mobb Deep vs. Nancy Sinatra)

Bang Bang – Phlo Finister
Mobb Deep and Nancy Sinatra go together like up and down. Ying and Yang. I’m always compelled to turn the volume up when I hear a Mobb Deep track, especially Shook Ones. The Mobbs music resonates through me like no other music. So hearing straight out of LA Phlo Finister’s mashup I was predisposition to like it. It’s M-O-B-B. Super plus bonus is the fact that my second favorite song “Bang Bang” from Nancy Sinatra desperate lyrics are perfectly matched with the Shook beat. The lyrics are original but Phlo is singing the vocals herself. Hearing either one of those songs moves my soul. Phlo Finister took “Shook Ones” murda rap and blended it like mash potatoes with Nancy’s beautiful heartfelt and sad lyrics. This is sure to be on repeat. I love it!

Logic – “All I Do” (Video)

All I Do – Logic
White boys know how to party. Logic shows his environment. Gumby show’s he know how to ride. Yeah this video is all over the place. There’s one concept that underlies the whole thing – it’s Logic knows how to party. Gansta is a hard word to associate to a white dude. But ” All I Do” summons the chill gansta beat and keeps it real. No doubt logic knows how to party and he likes to prove it ie: “All I Do” video. Anyways enjoy lifes short. In the meantime you can grab yourself a copy of his first mix tape, Young Sinatra, it’s already out.

Hit the jump to see how Logic parties it up with Gumby.

I featured this Beyonce track a few months back and now we have the visuals. Difference is Andre 3000 was on it now J. Cole is. I wonder why.

Damn! Another Beyonce video. She pumping as many videos out as she can in the last month. I guess she wants everyone to remember as such without her little pregnancy showing. Either way, this video is dope. I love everything about it. The lighting, killer wardrobe, make-up and editing. It’s all on point. I think this trailer party out did Logic’s Gumby rally. En Vogue trailer trash. That’s Where’s it at. Where ever there’s a Trailer Park there’s Theophilus London????

Mange Ta Ville – Misteur Valaire
Misteur Valaire?? Here’s a strange yet intriguing video. Definitely a strange group as well. How often do you stumble upon a good electro jazz group? You’ve got to love the vintage feel the video has and how well the music goes to it. M. Valaire comes from my hometown Montreal yet I’m clueless to who they are. I just checked out a share on my FB wall and found this hidden gem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the outfits and funkyness.

AWOLnation – “Sail”

Sail – AWOLnation
Aaron Bruno aka AWOLnation has prepared a new spin to his latest work. “Sail” is a little slow and laid back in tempo compared to this LA kids usual songs. Don’t get me wrong “Sail” is on par with strength and intensity to his other works. The powerful grinding beats and harsh vocals make this a raw industrial banger. It got me hooked from the get go and has been on repeat for a while now. Enjoy.

Big Sean ft. Kanye West – “Marvin & Chardonnay” (Produced by Xaphoon Jones)

Marvin & Chardonnay – Big Sean (Dj Mo Beatz remix)
Dj Mo Beatz took this song to the next level. I wasn’t that hyped when I heard Big Sean’s new album Finally Famous. “Marvin & Chardonnay” was the stand out track. It was a real smooth R&B track. Mo Beatz took this song to a new level and tweaked the production to perfection. I mush rather this remix.

Finally Originals is a remix album of Big Sean Finally Famous. This album has crazy production credits like Dj Ac Slater, Xaphoon Jones, and Drumma Boy. Everyone took a turns flipping the tracks into more upbeat electro beats. Very well done.

What’s better than Summer Camp? Some of my best memories was at summer camp. Besides the miserable homesickness I experienced at the beginning and the occasional bed wetting, summer camp was tons of fun.
It’s kind of weird to be writing about a band called Summer Camp when it’s freezing outside. But this is what I need to warm up. It’s a nice change of pace, both in sound and band name. Their about to release Welcome To Condale. If you want to listen to the full album now you can stream it over at The Guardian. The video is a perfectly timed Halloween-inspired visual accompaniment for “Down” off of the album.

Who is DyE? His real name is Juan de Guillebon, and for many years, he shied away from the spotlight, supporting numerous Parisian electro bands such as Joakim & The Disco and Botox as a bass player. Since then, he’s embarked on a solo effort and released Taki 183, and now a video has been created for “Fantasy” a single off of Taki. This video was brilliantly animated/directed by Jérémie Périn and is highly NSFW. It may be animated, but it’s a far cry from Disney. Creatively disturbing is probably what I’d label it as, so watch at your own risk.
Watch the video for “Fantasy” after the jump…
