Here’s some new dope sampling from G-Eazy. It’s the second time posting him on NN, I guess I sorta like him for some reason. I’m pretty sure it’s the beat production that does it for me. Tthe samples he chooses to spit over –

So this song is some sort of a mystery. Word on the street (P4K, so not really “the street”) is that it was uploaded to Tumblr then taken down quickly. Either way, here’s some new fresh Frank Ocean. With his Def Jam refurbishing of Nostalgia, Ultra on hold and his appearances on Watch The Throne not coming out for a little while, This seems to be a blessing in disguise and this one’s very in the vein of his other work, I’m really feeling it.
Thinking About You – Frank Ocean

Stereogum have brought us a celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Strokes‘ debut album Is This It. They have put together an impressive roster of artists to cover the Is This It tracks, including The Morning Benders, Heems from Das Racist, Owen Pallett and Peter Bjorn & John.
Check out a couple of the covers below, and head over to Sterogum to grab the full Stroked download as well as some words from the artists involved. I think these cover albums show us the lasting impact of a great LP, but also the way music evolves, times change, and young upstarts are happy to put synths on anything.
Last Night – The Morning Benders

Tennis’ album Cape Dory is out now.
Marathon – Tennis
Under construction. Check back tomorrow for brand new Note Noted website.
Osheaga was nuts, check it out one last time. Osheaga 2012 is far far away.
Sante Fe – Beirut
A definite feel good summertime jam from Beirut’s forthcoming album, The Rip Tide. Some jaunty accordion and big horn section flourishes make this a quintessential Beirut song, which is undeniably a good thing.
