I first heard of Daughter aka Elena Tonra back in January with the beautiful track “Run” from her first EP of demos which is still available for download from her MySpace. Now we have another wonderfully written, powerfully emotional piece of music to feast our ears upon. “Landfill” floats between feelings of love, hate and loss, all riding a simple acoustic melody that gives Elena’s voice all the space it needs to draw you in and not let go. This one has been on repeat for about a half hour now, which I don’t normally do, especially with new songs, so check it out.

Damn this takes me back. Here’s the first single off Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, out May 3rd. Shoutout to MCA for beating cancer. It kind of blows my mind that these guys are in their 40′s now and still sound like this – the track could easily fit in on one of their albums from the 90′s.

Chiddy Bang makes me feel young again. It reminds me of those days when I had no resposibility for a job, car insurance, or rent. When I could just head to the playground and just hang out with my friends all day, much like the above. Then I was forced to step into the real world. It sucks. Luckily, we have great music like this to help us remember those times.
Chiddy Bang brings along Mac Miller for their new sampled track “Heatwave”. Chiddy signed to Parlaphone/EMI in 2010 and are planning on releasing an album this year. I hope it doesn’t get pushed back like every other album lately.

Here’s Ground Up‘s latest tape called Up Late. I’m loving it. The Philly group keeps things super smooth, incorporating slick melodies, velvety deliveries, and never cluttering their music up with shitty extra noise (all too common these days). Plus, Sublime and Pink Floyd samples? Yes. This is going to be in heavy rotation. Shoutout to spring.

Another leak off David Dallas‘ The Rose Tint, which drops May 11th. This one sounds like something off his first CD, which is definitely not a bad thing at all. Check out the song below featuring Che Fu on the hook!

If there was a formula for winning music videos, boats and beautiful bikini-clad women would definitely be in that formula. If boats and bikinis don’t do anything for you, then maybe you need to do some reevaluating. Add Pusha T and some pink pants to the formula and you’ve got the “Can I Live” video.

Consequence’s previous two Movies On Demand mixtape installments have been relatively strong affairs, though they’re not without their share of duds. But that’s pretty much a given for most mixtapes these days as rappers push themselves to fit every last bit of material on there. Even so, I have faith that Cons can deliver what might be his best project yet on the third Movies On Demand, if only off the strength of its first leak. He sounds confident and aggravated on “Everybody Told Me,” which is always a good combination for an MC. It, of course, doesn’t hurt that the track is boosted by a RZA-esque Kanye West beat. Everything about the song is a winner. Let’s just hope Cons can deliver more of the same on Movies on Demand 3, which is due out soon.

Luke Christopher’s new song with Asher Roth which was cool and all but the videos he has on his YouTube page are really what got my attention. This song samples perfectly in this song, mixing up the melodic Social Network theme with the orchestrated chorus of Radioheads’s “Creep”. Check out the video for “The Social Network” below, I recommend checking out his other content as well.
