Here’s the new mixtape from Rich Hil. This kid has been busy especially since he’s fresh outta rehab. Speaking of busy, I have so much shit to do right now I definitely should not be blogging. So stressed I think my eye twitch is making a comeback. Hope you’re doing better than me. Here’s a sample below.
No Intentions – Rich Hil

“Blood” is a new song from my fellow friends Montreal rock band The Dears.
“Blood” comes from the band’s upcoming album Degeneration Street out February 15th on Dangerbird Records. A welcome return to form and for fans of the operatic hysteria of past albums, “No Cities Left” and “Gang Of Losers,” “Degeneration Street” finds The Dears creating a sweeping collection of orchestral pop / rock that is at once enlightening, angst-ridden and mesmerizing.
The Dears will preview new tracks from “Degeneration Street” along with unreleased material and more every Monday night in December, January and February on www.livestream.com/thedears

Here’s a new EP from Ace Reporter. I listened to the first track last night and it sounded like good stuff. So here, check it out.
One new song everyday for a year.
This is the ambitious project that Ace Reporter took on in 2010: writing and recording an original track every 24 hours. The songs are as varied thematically as they are stylistically, spanning the spectrum from raw acoustic whispers to rambunctious rootsy rock to eclectic electro-sizzles and everywhere in between – all while maintaining a soulful and stirring sonic presence. “This project is all about my personal relationship to music,” says Ace. “My goal was to focus on creativity at the expense of polish. Last-minute panic has never felt so good.”
As the year begins to wind down, Ace Reporter is releasing the first of four free themed EP’s that showcase various handpicked tracks from the threesixfive project. The Untouched and ArrivedEP is a five song offering which highlights Ace’s repertoire for all thing rock. “These are by far the most fun songs to write,” explains Ace. “Rock at its best is always about the things that are uncontainable. It’s dirty politics, it’s sex, it’s pure elation. And it’s a real challenge to try to channel that kind of energy when I’m sitting by myself in a room.” Guitars and drums collide with layered harmonies in “Caught In The Middle”, a track that finds Ace channeling his inner Blonde Redhead, while a storm of sampled acoustic guitars and politically charged lyrics unite for the visceral “The World is on Fire”. The tempo slows down for title track “Untouched and Arrived”, where handclaps and buoyant guitar work fuse with lyrics dripping from the intoxication of wanderlust and wonderment. “I wrote ‘Untouched’ right after returning from a trip to a post-earthquake Chile, and I got home to Brooklyn and had this sense of how lucky and surreal my life here is. That’s what the song is for me – this joyful celebration of being home.” Download the Untouched and Arrived EP for free today to hear these tracks and more – it’s time to begin your auditory adventure with Ace Reporter.

Carmelo Anthony, yes the basketball player, came out with some mixtape last week and while I don’t feel like downloading the entire mixtape there are two songs which caught my eye and this is one of them. With the second installment of The Lost Tapes coming sometime Foul Breeze is the first new song from Nas that we have had in a while. This song is amazing. With Nas’ last album sort of falling short in some senses I think Foul Breeze is a good sign of what is to come.

A lot of people have been hating on Daft Punk’s Tron soundtrack after it leaked and turned out to be a soundtrack, not a new Daft Punk album. Haters. I love soundtracks. Anyway, this Breakdown remix of Derezzed should help anyone out who wanted a full dancefloor banger out of the Tron album.

This time, jj takes on The-Dream‘s “Right Side Of My Brain”, for a track that may be off their upcoming mixtape Kills, due on Christmas Eve. I’m glad that indie artists are finally picking up this whole mixtape concept.

“New Piano Song” (clever title, Jonzy) is featured on Jonsi‘s (of Sigur Ros) new live album and DVD Go Live, and you can download it for free in exchange for a Facebook “like”. Good idea. While you’re there, go “like” NoteNoted on Facebook. I won’t give you anything for doing it, because unlike Jonsi, I don’t stoop to the level of bribery for my “likes”. Nah, just kidding, I’d totally bribe you if I had anything of value to give.
Anyways, I’ve been thinking about my end of the year list for top albums, and it’s got me listening to a lot of 2010 music. Remember Jonsi’s Go? It wasn’t one of those albums that I latched onto right away, but once it sank in, I fell in love. Definitely one of the most beautiful albums of the year, in my humble opinion. “New Piano Song” is one of a few new songs featured on Jonsi’s Go Live, and it fits in well with his body of work.
PS: I know you guys are probably wondering what to get me for Xmas or Hanukkah . This Jonsi album/DVD would be a cool gift. I also like sunglasses, knives, arts, mods for my mini cooper s…you know stuff like that. Not complicated at all – I’m a simple human being.

Waka, Waka, Waka, Flocka, Waka, Pow Pow Pow! Good call DJ Fergie Ferg. So since this isn’t really a “dance music” blog, but I know some of you guys are interested in some fr33ky ass jams so I’m just gonna throw up my last one for today, and maybe make it a regular thing since I missing some new Jersey Shore and fist pumping. Until season 3 makes it, some of you will have to endure it. Sowwy.
Plus how sick is that picture. Blinged out Mau5!

I’m not sure what’s more radical, the 1980′s Ferrari or that Jackson guitar or me not posting this earlier. All but me posting earlier are iconic brands. I kind of wish there were more explosions to match the awesomeness of this song but her removing her sunglasses for 2 seconds sufficed for an explosion.
Alexis Krauss began her musical career at the center of a teen pop group. Listen to her now, though, and you’d never guess it. As half of the electro rock duo Sleigh Bells, Krauss has quickly made a name for herself as one of the most energetic frontwomen in indie rock. A spin through the band’s debut release, Treats, only serves to seal the deal. Over a dark, fuzzed-out, and fist-pump-worthy mix of beats, guitarist Derek Miller shreds through effect-filled guitar line after effect-filled guitar line. All the while, Krauss dishes up a mix of cheers, screams, and pitch-perfect notes, tying the whole thing together in a neat, dance floor-approved package.

I knew the minute I heard Theophilus that he would hit the mainstream hard and here’s the proof. Better watch this before it gets taken down. Lindsay Lohan, sex, drugs and god knows what.
