Ok Go is the coolest band with the coolest videos. Every video they’ve produced is amazing and viral. OK Go pumps out viral videos like it’s no big deal. Their latest video for “White Knuckles” was uploaded a few days ago and it is already over 1,000,000 views on YouTube. Click here to see their other videos.
The key to this video’s success – dog tricks! I can’t be mad, I love it.

No bs on this J.Cole-produced track. No hook, just verses over some hard hitting drums. A track like this will never be a number one smash hit, but for those who feel like hip-hop is missing this kind of raw emceeing, it will be nice to hear some guys going in without using a sing-along chorus as a crutch. As a lot of these young up and coming rappers start gaining success, their music takes a drastic change in direction. Let’s not name names, but I can think of at least three in the past year who started off doing one thing, then dropped an album that sounded completely watered down. Credit to J.Cole for sticking to his guns so far.

Most of you probably know ¡MAYDAY! (so annoying to type that – I’m gonna name my band Jai-KNOWTT as Lil Wayne’s (Free Weezy) backing band on a few of the Rebirth tracks. Oh, nobody remembers Rebirth? Weird. Well the Miami band is planning to release an album called Stuck On An Island on October 12th. To supply us all with a sample of what to expect, they’ve put together a mixtape called Lords Of The Fly, which you can download over at DJ Booth.

Here’s one of the tracks off the mixtape, featuring Mississippi representative and all around badass David Banner.

“Doncamataic (All Played Out)” is a new Gorillaz song that debuted on a BBC Radio Show today. It will be released as a single on November 22nd. The song features vocals by up and coming British singer Daley. Boom, listen below.

Recorded just a few weeks ago, Gorillaz were so excited about this stunning new cut, they wanted to unleash it onto the world as soon as humanly possible! All bouncing beats, deep funk grooves and sumptuous soothing vocals (courtesy of hot new British talent Daley), this track just makes you want to move. And in case you’re wondering; inspiration for the track and the title comes from The Donca Matic – the groundbreaking Japanese-designed drum machine which started the Korg Musical Instrument Company in 1963!

Gorillaz just started their World Tour on Sunday and I witnessed their first show ever in Montreal – everyone that likes even one song has to check out their show live. It was entertaining as a fast pace action flick . Oh yeah don’t be surprised when Mos Def or De La Soul takes stage with Bobby Wommack.

After hearing about 50 remixes of this track ranging from straight techno to hip-hop and everything in between, we finally get a video of the pale faced, strange hairstyled pop singer. I still prefer the downtempo Major Lazer or Skream Remix, but this is a well-crafted pop song and La Roux seems to be gaining a lot of momentum.

As synth–pop sensation La Roux’s second single “In For The Kill” heads to radio, the stunning video to accompany the track has premiered worldwide today via MySpace. Directed by LEGS(Goldfrapp’s “Alive”), the video was shot at the historic and legendary Hotel Chelsea in NYC made famous by the eclectic and artistic musicians who have made it their home in the past, these include Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Dylan Thomas and Sid Vicious, amongst others. The video is a dark and lusciously rich view into the hotel’s seedy underbelly through the eyes of La Roux’s Elly Jackson who finds herself acting the part of night porter.

This is the first I’ve heard from Kid Fella – this one is over Vado’s beat with a Big L sample on the chorus. Any track that has Big L on it is my shit. RIP BIG L. Kid Fella’s new mixtape A Work of Art due out Oct. 22, 2010. Dude seems to have a pretty nice flow and a lot of personality. I’d like to hear him over some original production.

It’s about time everyone’s surf pop hangover wears off. For those who have managed to sober up from the psychedelic sounds of summer, and the rest who are vacillating between withdrawal and detox, Infantree’s LP Would Work is your 12-track program.

Out of the San Fernando Valley in California, Infantree started playing music together in high school. Influenced by Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, and Neil Young (Infantree is on Young’s label Vapor Records), Infantree’s well-balanced, sometimes brash, steady rock rhythm make you want to set off down by the river and hang underneath the harvest moon.

In “No One’s Home,” the lyrics “how long can you disguise how you feel with a song, all day long until you feel there’s nothing wrong?” make me pretty confident that I could masquerade in the music of Would Work. After all, aren’t most (music) addicts in search of sublimity?

Infantree exudes refined originality well beyond their years. Get your fix.

Last time we heard from Emay, it was the playful “Douche Lincolns“. This time, he’s linked up with a couple of other creative minds for the spacey “Breaking” from the group’s (known as Seeing Suge) debut EP. The song features a lush backdrop filled with a mix of electronic textures and human voices and driven by a stuttering drum pattern.

The collaboration bewteen Mikey Sanders from Blackbird Blackbird, Rising producer Star Slinger and Canadian rapper Emay kicks off today–here is an mp3 of the final version of Seeing Suge – “Breaking”–. The track is the title track on our Debut EP “Breaking”

Some music genre titles offer little evidence as to what you should expect – “house music” for example. What the? I’m sure there’s a great reason for how this title came about, but it reminds me of “house dressing” (which is almost always some kind of vinaigrette). Anyways, before I start rambling about salad dressing, I was getting at the fact that “dream pop” is a great genre title. Even if you don’t know what dream pop is, you can take a guess, and unless you have violent dreams involving deer (like me, no idea why) you’ll probably be right.

Wow, this post is quickly on the way to worst post ever status. Uh, here’s San Fran dream pop duo Silver Swans’ new “Secrets”. Silver Swans is songwriter Ann Yu of LoveLikeFire and DJ Producer Jon Waters. “Secrets” will appear on their Secrets EP, out in November.

Not your typical song from the usually high energy Baltimore native. But this track nonetheless highlights the unique talent of Rye Rye. She is definitely unlike any other female out there right now & this is what the industry needs.

In my opinion, it’s the Baltimore accent that really separates Rye Rye from other club-rap-chicks. Dope video, catchy track…. Real hipster-hop right here (I mean that in a good way)!!
