Anthony Hamilton’s songs make me feel gangsta. I want to cruise to this funk shit. His songs are always filled with his soulful voice and rejuvenating beats. Uhhh huh…

Band Of Horses are giving away another freebie from their upcoming album Infinite Arms, out May 18th. I’m still expecting to hear at least one giant song like “Funeral” that will swallow the rest of the album whole, but so far I haven’t heard that. That could be a good thing. “Factory” is my favorite that I’ve heard so far. Inifinite Arms sounds like it’s going to be a solid album that showcases ghostly, distinctly American singing.

Did you know that ex-Unicorns and ex-Arcade Fire members buddied up and made a band called Clues? It’s true. And it’s kind of exactly what you’d expect. The quirkiness and jagged edges of The Unicorns plus the waves of sound and layering that you’re used to from Arcade Fire. Check out “Ledmonton” below from their S/T album released almost a year ago.

Here’s the video for “Next Girl” off The Black Keys‘ album Brothers, due May 18th. The scrolling text at the bottom of this video is hilarious. I recommend watching it twice – once for the visual elements and once for the jokes at the bottom of the screen.

BTW The Black Keys hate this video and don’t find it funny at all.

Oh em eff gee. Once in a while a song comes along that is so incredibly, awesomely on point. Kate Miller-Heidke, a singer-songwriter from Austrailia, delivers so hard on this track. I don’t want to give too much away about it cause the build is what makes it so great. I will tell you that EVERYONE will relate to it. If you are a person who has ever been in a relationship with another person and then you guys broke up, download this song.
It’s not a new song. It’s been on the innanuts for a little while now, but I hadn’t heard it, so I figured other people probably haven’t either? If you’ve heard it, move on (please don’t comment and write “fail” that hurts my feelings). If you have not, please enjoy “Are You Fucking Kidding Me (Facebook Song).”

A dark and brooding dubstep rework of Nirvana’s even darker and more brooding “Something In the Way” from biscope.

Been waiting for a minute to introduce these guys to you. Reinvention. If you’re sitting around waiting for another Das EFX, Nas, or Mobb Deep to emerge, claiming that hip-hop is dead and holding on with all your might to dusty loops and boom-bap beats, you’re getting lapped by the new guys.
There will always be a place for that classic hip-hop sound, but don’t try to resist change. Right now, hip-hop is growing at exponential rates. We all love the James Brown samples, but Florence and the Machine? Yeah, you can feel things shifting right? Just try to keep swimming, or you’re going to start to sink.

“We’re DJ Entendu and Classic, and together we make up Reinvention. Reinvention is a two-piece experimental hip-hop outlet from Drexel University, founded just a few months ago in the same studios that spawned Chiddy Bang. We blend influences from indie rock and electronica with more traditional hip-hop music and try to make huge bangers that can appeal to anybody from a dancing fiend to a top-down, wind-in-your-hair, cross-country roadtripper.”

Take a listen for yourself.

I was going to paraphrase William Fitzsimmons bio, but it’s just too good.

“William Fitzsimmons is one of the oddest people you will ever meet. Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Due to the family’s inability to communicate through normal visual means, William’s childhood home was filled with a myriad of sounds to replace what eyes could not see. The house was suffused with pianos, guitars, trombones, talking birds, classical records, family sing-a-longs, bedtime stories, and the bellowing of a pipe organ, which his father built into the house with his own hands.”

This guy is raging. Blind musical parents who build pipe organs and he rocks that beard, SO SOLID. I have been a fan of his ever since hearing his cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless”. His music has a very rainy day, late night drive, curl up and make out vibe . “So This Is Goodbye”, remixed by German producer Pink Ganter, sounds like the bass infused baby of Explosions in the Sky and Elliot Smith. It’s an emo track (about coping with heartbreak) with an electro feel…electremo? This song is off of Fitzsimmons’ new b-sides and remixes collection, Derivatives

Here’s a new one from Bruno Mars, the singer on B.o.B’s hit “Nothin On You” from his upcoming EP, pictured above. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of Bruno. I wasn’t sure if he’d be like a more pop, less rock version of Kevin Rudolf – good for some choruses every now and then but never really shining on his own. The more I learn about him, I think the Hawaiian/Puerto Rican singer/producer may have a lot more to offer. I’m gonna keep my ears open and give him a few more tries before making up my mind. Any thoughts

Not a huge fan of Beyonce but you have to reconize her talent especially in this masterpiece. The throw back to the 60′s is genius. If Taylor Swift wins an award over this video, I will personally sneak into her home and steal the moon man from her. Seriously, the screen shots from this video alone are better than most model portfolios.
